Using KarmaWheel for Client Readings — A Practitioner's Workflow

If you're a Vedic astrologer running a reading practice — paid clients, students, family consultations — KarmaWheel can streamline your entire workflow. This article walks through a complete client-reading process from intake to follow-up.

Before the reading

1. Gather birth data carefully

Have the client send you, via email or your booking form:

Full name (for chart label)
Date of birth (year, month, day)
Exact time of birth (request hospital/birth-certificate precision; if uncertain, note it)
City, state/province, country of birth
Description / context (what they want from the reading)
Date of any major life events they're willing to share (for rectification cross-check)

2. Calculate the chart in advance

Don't compute charts during the reading itself — do it before. Open KarmaWheel, calculate the chart, save it with the client's name.

If the birth time is uncertain:

Calculate at the recorded time
Run the Birth Time Rectification tool with the major life events they provided
Verify or adjust — if you adjust, re-save the chart with the rectified time

3. Pre-reading study

Before the meeting, spend 15-30 minutes studying the chart:

Read the Lagna and Lagna lord thoroughly
Note the Moon's nakshatra and current dasha
Identify any major yogas active
Look at the Navamsa — does it confirm or contradict the Rasi?
Check active dasha and current transits — what period of life are they in?
Glance at the Atmakaraka for soul-level themes
Note any major upcoming transits (Sade Sati start/end, Jupiter return, etc.)

This is the difference between a deep reading and a generic one.

4. Generate the AI Personal Reading (optional but useful)

Open the Email AI Reading wizard. Generate a multi-page AI interpretation of the chart. Read through it — it often surfaces patterns you might miss in your own analysis. You don't have to send it to the client; use it as additional eyes on the chart.

During the reading

5. Open the Dashboard view (desktop)

For a live reading session, switch to the Dashboard view so you can see Rasi + Navamsa + Transits + Dashas + Planet List + one configurable slot all at once. Lets you reference any panel without scrolling.

6. Have the chart in front of you

Either on your screen (during a video call) or printed (for in-person). For printed, use either:

Single-page chart summary (quick reference)
Full chart report (comprehensive)
KN Rao or KP format (if your lineage prefers those)

7. Structure the conversation

A typical 60-90 minute reading flows:

5 min — set the frame. Acknowledge it's a chart, not a verdict; ask the client what they most want to understand.
15 min — chart overview. Lagna, Moon, Sun, dominant planets, major yogas. The client's "shape."
20 min — life themes. The houses + planets relevant to what they asked about. If marriage, the 7th and synastry. If career, the 10th and Dasamsa. Etc.
15 min — current period. The active dasha, key transits, what's likely to surface in the next 1-3 years.
10 min — practical suggestions. Remedies, mantras, alignments. Don't over-prescribe.
10 min — Q&A. Let them ask specific questions; use the AI chat live during the call if helpful.

Adjust based on what the chart reveals and what they need.

8. Use the AI chat during the call

If a question comes up that you want a second opinion on, paste it into the AI chat. The AI's answer is grounded in the same chart you're discussing. Helps with:

Confirming a reading you're tentative about
Surfacing classical references / shastra you may not have memorized
Generating possibilities you can then validate from your own knowledge

Don't read the AI answer verbatim — synthesize and verify.

After the reading

9. Send the client a deliverable

Most clients appreciate something to take away:

Email Full Chart Report PDF — comprehensive printout
Email AI Reading PDF — long-form interpretation in plain language
A short personalized note summarizing key points from your discussion

10. Save your notes

In the saved chart's description field, add notes about:

What was discussed
Recommendations made
Follow-up due dates
Anything to watch for

These notes search across with Chart Search / Research — useful when the client returns later.

11. Schedule follow-up if appropriate

For major life-period readings (Sade Sati start, Jupiter return year, etc.), suggest a follow-up reading at a key transit point. Note the dates in your calendar and remind the client.

Pricing and ethics

Some practitioners use KarmaWheel for free family readings; others build full businesses. Whatever your model:

Be transparent about what astrology can and can't predict
Don't predict death or terminal events even when classical methods suggest them
Frame challenging chart features as "areas to give attention to," not as fated outcomes
Recommend medical / legal / financial professionals for those domains
Honor confidentiality — saved client charts are private; don't share without permission
