Printouts & Reports — Which One to Use When

KarmaWheel includes nine distinct printout formats, each tuned for a specific purpose. This article helps you pick the right one and shows how to email PDFs to clients or yourself.

The nine formats

1. Single-page chart summary

A beautiful one-page printout with the chart wheel, key data, lagna, planets, and current dasha. Best for: quick reference cards, fitting in a binder, sharing as a single image. The chart fits on one printed page, prints in color or black-and-white cleanly.

Open from: Lagna banner → "Summary 1-Page" button.

2. Full chart report

A comprehensive multi-page printout with all four chart styles (NI, SI, Wheel, Das Wheel) and complete planetary tables. Best for: thorough archival reference, sending a complete printed chart to a client or student.

Open from: Lagna banner → "Print / PDF" button.

3. KN Rao format

A printout in the visual style preferred by the late master KN Rao — large North Indian chart, planet table below, dasha sequence sidebar. Includes a planet-positions row showing exact degrees. Best for: practitioners trained in KN Rao's lineage, or anyone who appreciates that visual layout.

Open from: Features → Printouts & PDFs → KN Rao Format.

4. KP format (Krishnamurti Paddhati)

A KP-specific printout with cusp-sublord tables, KP-style cusp lines on the South Indian chart, and the KP-format planet tables. Best for: KP practitioners. Only meaningful if you have your chart calculated with the Krishnamurti ayanamsha (set in Settings).

Open from: Features → Printouts & PDFs → KP Format.

5. Transits & Hits report

A printout of the current transit chart paired with a list of every "hit" — i.e., every transiting planet activating a natal placement. Best for: monitoring a specific transit period (e.g., Sade Sati, a Jupiter transit, Saturn return).

Open from: Features → Transits & Hits → Print Report.

6. Panchang printout (single day)

A polished daily panchanga printout with the day's tithi (and Paksha), nakshatra, yoga, karana, vara, plus auspicious/inauspicious windows, Choghadiya, planetary hours, and intra-day transitions. Includes the Hindu month, Saka and Gaurabda eras, and all panchanga elements at sunrise.

Best for: daily reference, especially for those who structure their practice or work around panchanga timing.

Open from: Features → Panchang / Calendar → pick a date → Print Panchang.

7. 12-month wall calendar (Holy Days)

A year-long landscape calendar with one month per page, showing every Vedic / Hindu holy day computed against your local sunrise. Color-coded for major festivals. Best for: hanging on a wall, gifting, or for anyone who wants to see the whole year of practice opportunities at a glance.

Open from: Features → Holy Days → Print Calendar.

8. Guidance Calendar (day-quality)

Another year-long landscape calendar, but instead of holy days it shows chart-specific day quality — a green/yellow/red color code based on Tarabala, Chandrabala, and the active dasha for your chart. Best for: planning major decisions across the year.

Requires a chart loaded (since it's chart-specific). Open from: Features → Printouts & PDFs → Guidance Calendar.

9. Day Planner

A single-day planner showing the panchanga, all auspicious windows (Brahma Muhurta, Solar Noon, Choghadiya, planetary hours, Abhijit), and inauspicious windows (Rahu Kala, Yamagandam) for a specific date. Best for: planning an important day — a wedding, a launch, a difficult meeting.

Open from: Features → Printouts & PDFs → Day Planner.

Email PDF features

Three features generate PDFs and email them directly:

Email Full Chart Report

Sends the multi-page full chart report as a polished PDF to any email address. Useful for:

  • Sharing your chart with family members
  • Preparing a chart for a friend who doesn't use Vedic software
  • Archiving — email yourself a copy

The PDF is generated server-side using your chart data and includes the KarmaWheel logo + branding.

Open from: Lagna banner → "Email Full Report" button.

Email AI Reading

Generates a long-form AI-written interpretation of the chart and sends it as a PDF. Combines:

  • Standard sections (Lagna, Moon, Sun, current dasha, major yogas)
  • AI-written prose interpretation grounded in the actual chart
  • A polished PDF format suitable for client delivery

Best for: practitioners delivering AI-augmented readings to clients, or for sending a substantial reading to friends/family.

Open from: Ask KarmaWheel wizard menu → Email AI Reading.

Email a Chart (custom recipient + note)

A general-purpose chart-PDF emailer. Pick any saved chart, optionally add a note, and email it to any address.

Open from: Ask KarmaWheel wizard menu → Email a Chart.

Printing from your browser

All printouts open in a print-preview-friendly browser tab. From there:

  • Cmd+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows) opens your browser's print dialog
  • Choose a physical printer, or pick "Save as PDF" to generate a PDF locally
  • Many printouts default to landscape orientation automatically (the calendar printouts especially) — you don't need to change this manually
  • All KarmaWheel printouts use print-color-adjust: exact so colored backgrounds and chart elements render correctly

Tips for great printouts

  • Print to PDF first, then to paper — let you preview before wasting paper. KarmaWheel printouts are designed to look good both on screen and on paper.
  • Use a color printer for the calendar printouts — the holy days color coding and the guidance calendar's day-quality coding are essential.
  • Use a high-quality paper for the full chart report — practitioners often print on 24-lb cream-toned paper for client delivery; it looks formal and substantial.
  • For phone-only users: tap any printout button and your phone will open it in a print-preview view; from there you can save to Files (iPhone) or share.
