Cancellation, Refunds & Account Management

Everything you need to know about managing your KarmaWheel subscription — cancellation, refunds, billing, and account settings. Most actions are self-serve and take less than a minute.

How to cancel your subscription

Cancellation is self-serve, one click, no email required.

  1. Sign in to KarmaWheel at karmawheel.app/app
  2. Click your account avatar (top-right of the screen)
  3. Click Manage Subscription
  4. The Stripe Customer Portal opens in a new tab
  5. Click Cancel subscription
  6. Confirm

That's it. You'll see a confirmation in the portal, and Stripe will email you receipt of the cancellation.

What happens after you cancel

By default, Stripe schedules your cancellation for the end of your current billing period. This means:

  • No further charges will be made to your card
  • You keep your Pro access until the end of the period you've already paid for. If you cancel on day 5 of a 30-day billing cycle, you keep Pro until day 30
  • Your saved charts, conversation history, and account data remain intact — you can sign back in anytime, even years later, and they'll still be there
  • After your access expires, you'll see the Free tier (still useful — basic charts, dashas, panchanga continue to work)

You can also resubscribe at any time without losing your data. Just sign in, hit Subscribe, and you're back.

How to request a refund

KarmaWheel offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. Here's how it works:

If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment

You don't have to ask. The refund is automatic.

When you cancel via Manage Subscription within the 14-day window:

  • Our server detects the cancellation via Stripe webhook
  • It checks: was your subscription started within the last 14 days?
  • If yes, it automatically issues a full refund of your first charge through Stripe
  • It also immediately ends your subscription (since the money has been returned)
  • The refund usually appears in your bank or card statement within 1–2 business days

You'll receive an email from Stripe confirming both the cancellation and the refund.

If your refund doesn't appear

If five business days have passed since cancellation and you still don't see the refund on your statement, email [email protected] with your account email. We'll investigate and fix it manually.

After the 14-day window

After 14 days, refunds are no longer automatic. Cancellation works the same way, but:

  • Future billing stops immediately
  • Your access continues through the period you've already paid for
  • The current period is not refunded (you've used the service for that period)
  • For genuinely exceptional circumstances (illness, billing error, etc.), email [email protected] and we'll make the right call case by case

How to change your payment method

The Stripe Customer Portal handles this too:

  1. Account avatar → Manage Subscription
  2. In the Customer Portal: scroll to the Payment method section
  3. Click Add payment method or Update default
  4. Enter the new card details (or Apple Pay / Google Pay)
  5. Optionally remove the old card

Stripe will use the new payment method on your next renewal.

How to update your billing email or address

Same place:

  1. Account avatar → Manage Subscription
  2. Billing information section in the Customer Portal
  3. Edit your name, email, or address
  4. Save

Note: this updates your billing email (used for invoices). To change your account email (the one you sign in with), email [email protected] and we'll change it manually.

How to delete your account

If you want all your data permanently removed:

  1. Cancel your subscription first (if active)
  2. Email [email protected] from the email address on your account
  3. State that you'd like your account deleted

Within 30 days, we'll permanently delete:

  • Your account record
  • All saved charts and chart history
  • All AI conversation history tied to your account
  • All preferences and settings

The only thing that's retained is anonymized billing records, which Stripe and US tax law require us to keep for ~7 years (your name, the dates and amounts of payments, but not your charts or other personal data).

How to download your data

If you want a copy of your saved charts before canceling:

  • In KarmaWheel, open Features → Chart Search / Research
  • Use the Export functionality there to download your saved charts as a TSV (tab-separated values) file
  • This file can be re-imported into KarmaWheel later, or into other Vedic astrology software that supports the format

For a complete data export (including AI history, preferences, etc.), email us and we'll provide it within 14 days.

What plans are there

Free tier (no credit card required):

  • Unlimited birth chart calculations
  • All chart styles (North Indian, South Indian, Western Wheel, Das Wheel)
  • Vimshottari dashas (3 levels deep)
  • Save up to 10 charts

Pro tier ($7.99 / month):

  • Everything in Free, plus:

Common questions

Can I share my account with family members? Each subscription is for a single user. We don't currently offer family or business plans, but feel free to email and ask if you have a specific use case.

Do you offer annual billing or a discount for paying upfront? Currently, monthly only. If you'd like an annual option, let us know via the Suggest a Feature link — if there's enough interest we'll add it.

What if I forget my password? Sign-in screen → "Forgot password?" — we'll send a reset link to your account email. The link is good for one hour.

What if I want to support development without subscribing? You can subscribe and just keep the subscription running as a way of supporting the project. Or write to [email protected] — we appreciate it.

My subscription says "PRO" — is that the same as Premium? Yes. "Pro" is what we call the paid tier. Some older parts of the app still say "Premium" — that's just legacy wording and refers to the same tier.

I'm an existing user from Goravani Jyotish Studio (the desktop app). Do I get any credit? Email us with the original Goravani Jyotish Studio purchase details (approximate year, registered email) and we'll set you up with a complimentary period. We're working on a more formal program for legacy users.
