Jaimini Extended

What it does

The chart-view already shows you the Chara Karakas (AK, AmK, BK, MK, PK, GK, DK) and their interpretation. This Extended view adds three classical Jaimini techniques that go a level deeper:

  1. Karakamsha Lagna — your soul-purpose lens
  2. Argala / Virodhargala — house-by-house intervention analysis
  3. Sudasa / Lakshmi rashi-dasha — wealth-focused rashi dasha

How to find it

Karakamsha Lagna

The Atmakaraka (AK) is the planet with the highest degrees in its sign (Rahu uses 30° minus its degrees, Ketu is excluded). This planet represents your soul.

The Karakamsha is the navamsha (D9) sign that the Atmakaraka falls in. This sign is a second lagna — a "soul-lagna" — that is read for:

  • Your svadharma (right way of being / vocational dharma)
  • Your spiritual inclination and the deity-form you naturally worship
  • The kinds of activities, knowledge, and people that draw you in

Read planets in / aspecting the Karakamsha to refine. For example, a Karakamsha in Pisces (Jupiter's sign) ruled by Jupiter points to dharma, teaching, religion, philosophy, healing. If Saturn aspects the Karakamsha, that dharma is one of service, discipline, and slow-built mastery; Mars instead would emphasise courage, action, and possibly martial / surgical / engineering work.

Argala (Intervention)

For every house in your chart, certain other houses intervene — they help, support, or obstruct. The classical scheme:

Type From these houses (counted forward) What they do
Argala 2nd, 4th, 11th Help / support / give gain
Virodhargala 12th, 10th, 3rd Obstruct each respective Argala

Each occupied source-house contributes to the Argala or Virodhargala.

In the Extended view, the table shows for every house 1-12: - Which planets sit in the 2/4/11 (the helping houses) — that's the Argala - Which planets sit in the 12/10/3 (the obstructing houses) — that's the Virodhargala

How to use it. Pick a house you're studying — say, the 7th (spouse). Look at its row. If it has strong Argala (benefics in 2nd, 4th, or 11th from it) and weak Virodhargala (no malefics in 12th/10th/3rd), the matters of that house unfold smoothly. If the Virodhargala dominates, expect obstacles.

Sudasa / Lakshmi Rashi-Dasha

Sudasa (also called Lakshmi dasha) is a rashi-based dasha — periods are governed by signs, not by planets. It's used primarily for wealth and prosperity analysis.

Note on the formula. Classical sources differ on the exact year-allocation rule for Sudasa. KarmaWheel uses a simplified form: years per sign = (planet-count in that sign) + 1, with a floor of 1. This captures the spirit of Sudasa (signs with many planets get longer activation) without forcing a specific school's interpretation.

The output table shows each sign in order from your Lagna with its ruling planet, year-length, and the age-range it covers. The full sequence covers the first ~30 years.

How to use it. When the active Sudasa sign is occupied or aspected by Jupiter (the karaka of wealth), Venus (luxury), or the Lagna lord, expect prosperity-favouring conditions. When the active sign is occupied by Saturn or Rahu, expect material caution or shifts.

Limitations

  • We compute AK using the Rahu-reverse convention. Some schools use a no-Rahu form; results will differ slightly.
  • Karakamsha placements / aspects are not listed in this view — use the chart-view's D9 panel to inspect them.
  • Sudasa, as noted, uses a simplified year-allocation.
